The Birth pd Concorde

Two years after performing a series of concerts with the likes of Fujiya & Miyagi, Julian Casablancas and releasing their debut EP 79, Clement Froissart, Max and Roger Zippel are probably about to turn the most important page of their history.
Candy Clash was one of the best-kept secrets in the Paris’ music scene; like treasure being traded under a cloak. They are now scheduled to appeal beyond the borders with their new name Concorde.
The arrival of a fourth member has not broken the alchemy of the former trio. Quite the contrary, the pop aesthetics, old synths and MPC are still in place, but the rhythm section is enhanced by the force of Louis Delorme. Within a few gigs, he became as essential as the maple syrup on a stack of pancakes.
The sound gained depth through his rawness.  Concorde now falls - with elegance - into an ambitious dynamic, with simplicity and with a sound of modernity.
With Concorde it is the french melodic know-how which flirts with the sound of Television, Talking Heads and The Feelies ... New York has never been so close!
Candy Boy: First single with a video
To materialize this new start and lock on this climatic change, nothing’s better than a single with a summer feel. Like a carefree whistle, played by the dj at the end of the summer bal, that inspires a shy peck on the lips under the shiny discoball.
A magnificent video illustrate this catchy hit, taking a kid on a golden Jetta, for a journey from his bedroom to the dancefloor. The icing on the cake, the production of the title is signed by Blackjoy and the art direction and the visual identity has been entrusted to Akroe.
Candy Boy is the ideal launching pad for a first album, which is certainly to be an epic release in 2011.
Fasten your seatbelts, the best is yet to come.

Chocolate Donuts

picture

Hailing from Caen, one of France's new hubs for music, these young 20 somethings have rubbed shoulders, rehearsed and checked themselves out with other local fellow bands, helping them along the way by perfecting their modern pop sound. Sofian (vocals and keyboards) fronts the 5-man-band with his singular and enchanting voice. Musically cross-pollinated by mostly UK bands (Friendly Fires, The Klaxons, LOTP, Two Door Cinema club...) as well as French talent Phoenix, their first self-produced Ep “FUNERAL” has a very familiar feel, albeit in their own very particular way, as a journalist from the UK NME pointed out. With this EP, the Chocolate Donuts prove that they have transposed their influences into their own music, where instant catchy melodies and guitar riffs play on their listeners instinctively.
Thanks to local support, they were quickly noticed and given the opportunity to play in many top French festivals (Transmusicales in Rennes, Francofolies in La Rochelle, Printemps de Bourges) as well as opening for big acts in Paris (Pony Pony Run Run, Naïve New Beaters). Their fresh and playful posture invites the audience further, getting them to return their generously delivered positive energy.
Opening the EP, is “French boy French girl”, a soft tale of puppy love, fronted by the lo-fi video showcasing - an urban jogging love quest in their city of Caen. However dark the title, the band's signature is their up-beat take on life, therefore with them, you will “Dance for (their) funeral” before “Party(ing) on the Moon” the more energetic and riot-n-electro-fuelled track. Dreams of being 'friends with LA”, spring up in “LA Yeah Yeah”, a challenging task not to sing or move to. As with “Die on the floor” warning off passive attitude towards their invitation to dance, and inviting you to join the party or else! The finally unrepentant (I) “Kill the Lord” demonstrates some finer melodic qualities from the band. One can only feel that the future holds more talented
production as they mature and ink their signature music deeper into their listeners’ souls while shaking them up.
Currently producing their debut album, the band is ready for the big jump, riding on the support for the acclaimed first digital release and from their live performances. Their music's instinctive appeal got them selected support from major media, radio and press, as they work through the crowded musical landscape, whilst nevertheless standing out on the independent band radar.
A pleasure.
